Tell us what Tiny Tot Tribe is and what your business offers?

Tiny Tot Tribe is an affordable, quirky online clothing store for babies and tots. We offer a range of leggings and bibs in funky prints along with a range of personalised items and accessories for Mamas and their babies.

What was it that inspired you to set-up your own business?

Having had children of my own, I struggled to find quirky clothes that stood out from regular high street garments. My children inspired me to start, and my friends and family gave me the courage to act on my dream, giving up my 'traditional' career as an estate agent of 10 years and establish Tiny Tot Tribe.

Do you think an Entrepreneur ISA and a Small Business Savings Allowance would have helped aid your company’s growth in the early stages?

I started with only £500 and as a result, my growth was slow, steady and organic at first and relied heavily on social media coverage and local fairs. This was great for building a strong reputation in my local community, but with a larger outlay at the start, this growth could have happened much sooner. A larger investment would have allowed me to advertise and reach a national audience more quickly through trade shows and media exposure. As a result, I’m sure early stage investment through an Entrepreneur ISA or a Small Business Savings Allowance would have been of benefit.

What have been the biggest challenges you have faced so far?

The biggest challenge for me was having to self-teach myself in online technology. I didn’t have an Instagram account and only knew the basics on Facebook. I didn’t even have a working email address! I have since become a dab-hand on Instagram and have 11,000 followers, 1800 on Facebook and have just built my own website.  Not bad for a complete novice!

What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Don’t be afraid of giving it a go. You will make mistakes and it will be slow at the start, but take the lessons from the errors to help develop and grow your business

What is your proudest achievement to date as a company?

I feel proudest when reading positive messages from my customers, and seeing pictures of their grinning kids dressed in Tiny Tot Tribe clothes which we post on our social media. The feedback has been amazing and it spurs you on through the long hours and hard work.
